Twelve Spies
the God of the bible had promised the Israelites that they would be able to conquer the land with its incumbent Canaanite nations. Moses instructed the spies to report back on the agriculture and lay of the land. During their tour, however, the spies saw fortified cities and resident giants, which frightened them and led them to believe that the Israelites would not be able to conquer the land as God had promised. Ten of the spies decided to bring back a false report, emphasizing the difficulty of the task before them.
They gave Moses this account, “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are very powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there.”
Two of the spies — Joshua and Caleb — did not go along with the majority and tried to convince the Israelites that they could conquer the land. [4] However, the Israelites believed the majority’s conclusions. All of the spies except Joshua and Caleb were struck down with a plague and died.
“Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, ‘We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.’” Numbers 13:30
Exodus 20: 3-17
Number One: Do not worship any other gods besides me.  (hold up one finger)
This one is pretty simple. God Almighty is number one — and there are no gods before Him!
Because I’m number one.
Number Two: Do not make idols of any kind
If God is number one, how can a graven image, or a copy, be number one? Inevitably it will be a “number two,” because only God can be number one! So commandment number two is no idols.
Number Three: Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God.  (3 fingers –  Trinity)
The Bible tells us that God has revealed Himself as three in one; the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We call this the Trinity. So it is easy to remember that God is “three” in one, and we know His “name” as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — Yahweh God. Therefore, commandment number three says don’t take His “name” in vain.
Number Four: Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
Jesus told his disciples, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.” The Sabbath is a day set aside to worship God. It is a day of rest. In other words, worship and rest are what the Sabbath is there “for” — so commandment number four is to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.  (  Also – Four rhymes with DOOR.  Make sure you walk through the church DOOR on Sundays.
Number Five: Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God will give you.  (5 Alive)
This commandment is the only one with a corresponding promise — that your days will be long on the earth. So, if you honor your father and mother you will live a long life. We remember it by saying, number five “keeps you alive!”
Number Six: Do not murder.
We’ve all heard the term “six feet under” referring to burying the dead. That’s how to memorize commandment number six, do not murder, or don’t put anyone “six feet under.” Six, six, six is the number of the beast.  Also 6-shooters are guns.  Guns are used to murder.  Therefore,  # 6 is THOU SHALT NOT KILL.
Number Seven: Do not commit adultery.   (7 heaven)
Lust is one of the “seven deadly sins” in the Roman Catholic catechism. So I remember commandment number seven — adultery, which is a result of giving in to lust — Seven stands for holiness and the only place sexual relations is holy is when it is in marriage.  Also 7 year itch.  Don’t scratch it.  DO NOT COMMIT adultery.
Number Eight: Do not steal.  (Number eight sideways – looks like handcuffs)
In some countries when you get caught stealing they cut off your fingers.  Steal?  You will be arrested and put into handcuffs.
Number Nine: Do not testify falsely against your neighbor.  Do not lie.
This commandment has 9 words in it.  IF you turn a written # 9 upsidedown it becomes 6 which we can call a “false” 9.  Therefore # 9 is associated with falsehood.  Thou shall not bear false witness.
Number Ten:  Don’t convet
We remember this as being the biggest number and the shortest commandment.  If your neighbor is married to a “Perfect 10″ or their house or car is a 10 on a 10-scale…DO NOT COVET!  Keep all 10 fingers to yourself.  Keep your “10″ fingers off of your neighbors belongings.
